    sltar - a minimal tar implementation

    4.5 KB of C code with no external dependencies aside from Unix stdlib.
    Unfortunately there is some dependence on BSD standard library though, to work on Linux it needs minor changes, so IMHO they went too far with simplification, but still I view this as very interesting.

    That would be useful as documentation for the format or if you need to embed tar support.
