the new haswell-cpu and newer amd-cpus supports avx2 and fma3

is there any known compression program which uses such features?

opencl for example can use this new features,
but a do not know any popular compression program which uses opencl ...

anyone has a suggestion for which compression program this could be usefull?

    best regards

I don't know if any compressor uses that, but I think it could be perfectly possible. For example wider vectors and gather support should both improve Context Mixing speed. Wider vectors would speed up mixing itself (and updating the mixers) - Haswell has doubled the bandwidth of L1 cache and maybe L2 cache so the data structures would have to be relatively small. Gather should improve the speed of gathering/ updating statistics from models.

gather op is slower than doing the same operations without SIMD

"gather op is slower than doing the same operations without SIMD"

Is that true if the data are all in fast cache, just scattered?

yes. i suggest you to look into agner fog manuals, it includes timings for all haswell ops. or you may use official intel docs
