    Some questions about games compressions

    hello everyone
I am trying to compress some games but there are no different in size after compressing i used first freearc (m0 methode) after that i used precomp and finaly freearc with ultra compression but like i said it doesnt work for me at all so i have some question
1-is there a way to know the perfect compression method to a particular game ?
2-what is the best pattern to use in precomp or i should always test them all to get the best result ؟
3-i saw some people in youtube using this method by puting this algorithm in a bat file -precomp+step+lzma:a1:mfbt4:d256m:fb128:mc1000:lc8 so my question is there a difference between using this methode and those programs ?
sorry for the long post and thanks in advance

Perfect ? no, not without brute forcing every known compression technology

2-what is the best pattern to use in precomp or i should always test them all to get the best result ؟
I would always test for them all if im using precomp.

3-i saw some people in youtube using this method by puting this algorithm in a bat file -precomp+step+lzma:a1:mfbt4:d256m:fb128:mc1000:lc8 so my question is there a difference between using this methode and those programs ?
Freearc is very flexible by choosing preproceesing and data filters. I dont know freearcs setting for m0 or ultra but if they are not the same ther offcouse will be a diffreence.
i used to have a bruteforce compression batch file that would try out combinations of precomp srep delta ECM filters with rzm cmm or ccmx compression

Ohh look another new person asking info about game compression. This time not from india though. Just form "earth"

In regards to question 1 you mihgt want to look into m7repacker which will brute force different compression setting withing the 7zip format to imrove compression ratio. however it eats A lot of time for big files

Precomp and SREP always come before the final compressor (Ultra7z in this case).

For best results, try the following:

    1. precomp -cn -intense FILE
    2. srep -m5 FILE.pcf (precomp's output file)
    3. Ultra7z

If the file you are compressing is smaller than 2 GB, use -m0 instead of -m5 in SREP.

    Good luck.

And if you change the main compressor 7-Zip with NanoZip (keeping the same Precomp and SREP filters), you'll get even better results (at the cost of speed decompression). I get very good results with this compression chain, using FreeArc:
    Code:
    -mprecomp:maxprecompj+srep:m5f:a1+nz:cc:m1.88g
If you feel NanoZip is very slow uncompressing, change the 'cc' method with 'cO' method (nz:cO:m1.85g). 1.88g (gigabytes) and 1.85g are the limits of NanoZip for a 32 bit operating system. If you have more memory and a 64-bit operating system, you can increase these values, but not always you'll have better compression ratio (and keep in mind you'll not be able to decompress the file on a 32 bit OS).

Tell me what is your compression chain. Are you using FreeArc?

first i use freearc without compression after that i drag the arc file into precomp and srep and finally i compress the file ultra with freearc but i make the file type (bin) to make my setup extract the files

max90, use the following command line to compress your files into one archive:
    Code:
    arc a archive.arc source_files -mmaxprecompj+srep:m5f:a1+delta+nz:cc:m1.88g -di
You must have NanoZip on your FreeArc bin folder.

For uncompression, use the following command line:
    Code:
    arc x archive.arc -dpdestination_folder
Just add the last command line to your setup program and you will be fine. FreeArc will decompress all files included in the compression chain, including the SREP file and, when done, destination_folder will have all your files decompressed.

PS. If you find very slow NanoZip decompression, change nz:cc:m1.88g with nz:cO:m1.85g .

    are oyu sure "
decompressing the srep files = turing the serp file into the orignal game files
decompressing the game files = going inside the game files and take the compressed info in the orignal files out,

Since you are saying you are having a final srep file and not the original game files it would seem you wanted to decompress you srep file to get you original files back.
Otherwise you are not really making sense to me. its impossible to decompress files you don't have

On what? Isn't answered yet your question?

By the way, you can compress any file directly from FreeArc Graphical User Interface with precomp and srep methods. This method has the advantage that FA will choose an appropriate method for you. Of course, manually tunning will be better but also harder.
There is not need to open a command prompt nor type anything... Or I am missing something? Tell us more about your difficult.

@SvenBent any original question ? i tell you i want to decompress the srep file and then the precomp file because i am using this method
    1- freearc (m0 method)
    2-precomp
    3-srep
4-and finally freearc with ultra compression
so when i am trying to decompress the last arc file with winrar-freearc or my setup the result is a srep file not the actual compressed files
