    Ashampoo ZIP Pro

A new commercial kid on the block.
Ashampoo ZIP Pro probably doesn't look like anything most on this forum are used to.

    Introduction

The interface is very much in line with nowadays windows for everyone and the dog.
It looks like a bunch of wizards that can actually pack, unpack and do the lot, if you invest your time.
It makes 7-Zip archives, also has a shell for 'RAR.exe' and supports .Arc and a whole list more.
Looking for a modern 256x256 icon for 7-Zip or FreeArc? Look no further.

It's easy to knock it down. They have made some common errors, important for practical use.

Extraction in the main interface window should include at least two options from the right-click menu:
-A- Extract here (in the Folder where the Archive is located). This Point A is Okay.
-B- Extract to ArchiveName-Subfolder (by default ALSO in the Folder where the Archive is located).

Point B is missing. This mistake means that after opening an Archive (to see the content - let us assume 16 files) it's not possible to extract these 16 files in a subfolder without FIRST having to browse to a ready made destination folder.
In all Archivers 'Extract to ArchiveName-Subfolder' can be done with the right-click menu, but once a user is in the main window, it should be possible right away, because from there it's not efficient to return to right-click menu.

And Ashampoo Zip Pro does have a second option missing. The Option to make a NEW FOLDER as destination when extracting to somewhere.
It can all be added later, if they see things clearly that is (In for example PowerArchiver the second part of point B is still missing after years of development. In Winzip a similar blunder was repaired (extracting to FolderName and always having to type a name first) as of version 18 and 19).

Other points in Ashampoo ZIP Pro:
-C- It's not possible to return from the Metro window to the Classic Main Archiver Window, unless it is to a previous Archive in the recent list. But a simple return would feel right, without having to Make or Open a New Archive first.
-D- Both a Windows Explorer Panel and DragAndDrop are missing. Its presence would for sure make a better Archiver.

Still, the program tries to bundle options. In the land of the blind (few Archivers with attractive interfaces), any One-Eye is king.
