(Looking for) lossless optimization for various media formats

Hi. I'm looking for tools that can optimize various media files, especially videostreams. By "optimize" I mean "losslessly reduce file size", and not "visually lossless", or tools compressing media files to its own container.
I already have such for PNG, MP3, JPEG. Does anybody know similar tools for MPEG 1\2\4 (and other) video streams? I saw "unpacking bitstream" message on some DivX AVI files in the AVIDemux, but I have no idea neither what it means, nor how to "pack bitstream". Also I saw the "CAVLC to CABAC" thread on doom9, but there is nothing more than just discussion.

P.S. Also something (application, python lib) is welcome for optimization of jpeg images inside pdf (by "inside" I mean in-place optimization, not "extract, optimize, combine back to pdf").

This thread about Ocarina's tool was the latest thing that at least worked (although quite a while ago, slow, closed source and only for testing purposes). Also, there's this thread about h264 recompression, this one is open source, but unfortunately, doesn't seem to work (yet) and quite complicated to get compiled.

Yes, I've read it, but as I said in my question - it does not suit my needs.
