intoPIX introduces the new JPEG XS standard

JPEG-XS is the first ISO standard (ISO/IEC 21112) designed for latency-critical applications offering lossless quality at low complexity.

Well, you can certainly license an implementation from Fraunhofer IIS (that is, me). But this will cost money. To give you an idea: 4K 60fps on a standard PC, CPU only, with visually lossless quality at 3bpp for natural image content. We also have a GPU implementation that performs > 3x as fast (depending on how you look) but has a latency of two frames. There will be a reference software at some point (21122-5) that is being worked on, but this is not a real-time nor a low-latency implementation. If there is interest, I can dig out some comparison.
