Sorry everybody for a long delay...

I managed to make the second version jump (first was after 0.41b). The new dark-0.50 is not exactly that perfect i was talking some time ago, but I'm still in progress

    I have 209.4kb on book1

    Major changes list:
    - Model improvement
    - Adding/Listing files
    - Only simple solid mode

    Thanx for testing!
I've found one old bug and another one in the new defence system of Archon. Try dark-0.50a
It must work properly. I'll try do spend more time on testing new versions...

I don't believe my eyes: almost 6% improvement on MFC without solid mode.... Because of a bug? I'm close to the top

DARK again fails on SFC - looks like it's matter of tradition...

Good result on Doom3.exe! Without filters?

    Try compare on bible.txt

    Yes.

    Try compare on bible.txt

BWT is very good for text files (bible.txt, ENWIK8/ENWIK9) but not so good for binary data.

LZ is the in the reverse - very good for binary data and not so good for text files.

All the past days I was testing 0.50b before it's released.

The bug was _very_ simple: Compression always worked in Solid, but decompression - not.

But it's not the end of bugfixes. There is another bug, not in BWT/DC core, but however a strong bug I saw when compress in non-solid mode huge number of files... I'm still trying to catch it.

My testset consists of 900Mb data of different filetypes.
All I can say now is that:

    1) Blocks attributes are the same (pack/unpack)
    2) Suffix check succeded (special exe is compiled for you )
    3) All arithmetic states are symmetric

Isn't it enough to say that dark-0.50c is not bugged? Anyway, it must pass the MFC testset first. I'm really interested in ratio result now

    Two questions:

    1. When will the next version of Dark be released?

    2. Are you still planning to release a GUI version?

Sorry, LovePimple, I have no idea about next version...
My life is full of bright events and Vadim is disappeared somewhere, so the developing process is very slow now...

GUI is ready for more than a month, but I can't publish it before.. you know. Maybe you want to see it yourself? I can send GUI exe for you

Would you please upload the "GUI exe" to http://www.mytempdir.com/ and send the download link to my email address below.

    me.lovepimple@mytrashmail.com

I can then download it without anyone else knowing the URL.

    Would this be acceptable?

    No answer?

I will not be offended if you have changed your mind about sending me the "GUI exe". Please answer even if my suggestion was unacceptable.

    Kind Regards,
    LovePimple

I'm already a month without Windows... And trying to work under Slackware Linux. I haven't stable inet connection, so sorrry

The size of executable would be rather small when I cut off floating point unit (5-15kb).

It seems to be that the next release will be Dark-0.50e ELF executable for i386...

I'm looking forward (as always) to this next release. What is an "ELF" executable?

It's a defacto standart of Linux Executables (instead of WIN32 PE).
It will be ver 0.51, now is being debugged...

Thanks for the explanation! Like most people, I will have to wait for the release of the Win32 exe.
