Hi, I just published the 1.9.3 release.
Some bugs were fixed and several under the hood updates were deployed; now the frontend uses LPAQ5 and 7z 4.56 and can perform byte to byte file compare (file wipe was introduced in 1.9.2); file selection by date/size/etc was made faster.

The program is about 1 year old, since the 1.0 release of 6 November 2006 (even if PEA project was published a couple of month before).

For the future I'm planning to integrate an utility for calculating checksum and hashes of files and I'm waiting for Lazarus update to see how UTF-8 support was improved, in order to provide internationalization for the application (now I'm starting translating the documentation... it really takes time!).
Drag and drop between application and system (at least Windows Explorer, but it will be better to be consistent on all platforms) is also another hot issue for the program, and I'm still searching a rational way to implement it thorugh Lazarus/FreePascal IDE.

    Very interesting...
I wonder if the "Beanchmark" function can be adapted to measure speed/memory comparing the different archivers already available in PEAZIP...

Today PeaZip is one year old!
1.0 release was published 2006 11 06, and now release 1.9.3 is online...
Many things have improved since then, and you can still find some old screenshots online to see how PeaZip "face" has changed

I want to thank Encode very much for QUAD, and all other users for hints, critics, suggestions and any feedback.
    Keep up the good work!
    Giorgio

    Thanks to you!

Are you planning to add FreeArc to compression methods in PeaZip?

(FreeArc is now a SourceForce project and its files are available here:
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group _id=207033 )

    I'm evaluating it.
It is still in prerelease stage, so I'll probably wait a bit. However, it seem an interesting project.

this doesnt change anything for peazip. it will be great to make release of fa 0.40 and peazip that supports it in sync. if you fear that i will change my policy, i will release 0.40 at the same conditions as all previous versions - free, open-source but without concrete license

That is good. If the syntax is not going to change I'll start writing code to add FreeArc frontend in the next release of PeaZip.
I cannot say if I'll keep up the montly update rate in near future because now PeaZip has reached a quite mature state and I would like awaiting a bit since substantial updates are coming in the IDE, probably resolving some old issues (i.e. UTF-8 support in the GUI, better support for Linux/GTK2 and probably QT...).

By the way, I compressed Arc.exe with PeaZip (upx best compression, strip before) and had a 579 KB result, IMHO you could consider about using executable's compression for your future releases.

absolutely no! 0.40 changed names of two cmds/options (y->ch and -pt -> -tp), thats all

this increases startup time and memory usage, so at least for win32 its not recommended. anyone can do it yourself
